An impressive wine, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Louer Family is a large-scale Cabernet (15.4%) natural alcohol with a dense ruby/purple color, a sweet kiss of blackberry and cassis liqueurs and gorgeously pure fruit in a full-bodied, pedal-to-the-metal style. However, there are no hard edges, no rusticity and a beautiful and impressively crafted integration of wood, alcohol, tannin an acidity.

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Louer Family is a blockbuster of power and elegance. Young, exuberant and youthful, with a dense purple color, notes of charcoal and smoke from the barrels interwoven with copious quantities of blackberry and blackcurrant fruit. This lavishly rich, full-bodied, multi-dimensional wine is still youthful and coiled tight, but has enormous upside and promise. Give it several more years of cellaring and drink it over the following 20-25 years.

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Louer Family slips senuosly out of the glass with provocative scents of kirch, black raspberries, chocolate-covered cherries and cassis with touches of dried mint, lilacs, tobacco and cinnamon stick. Full-boddied, the palate is packed with perfumed and spicy black fruit preserves, framed by wonderfully plush tannins nd seamless freshness, finishing with fantastic length and depth.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Louer Family opens with cedar and underbrush notions, giving way to a core of crushed blackcurrants, blackberry pie and plum preserves plus touches of wild sage and tobacco leaf. Full bodied, concentrated and densely packed with black fruit preserves and herbal sparks, it has a firm, grainy frame and just enough freshness, finishing long and savory.

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Series is a little closed and rubbery to begin, giving way to notes of baked blackcurrants, prunes and fruitcake plus suggestions of tar, chargrill and licorice. Full bodied and jam packed with tightly wound black fruit and earthly layers, it has a rock-solid line of firm, grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long.

The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is even bigger than its 2013 sibling (15.4% alcohol), showing greater evolution and more forward aromatics and flavors than the 2013 version, this is juicy, succulent and opulent wine with a dense ruby/purple color, not the intense purity and concentration of the 2013, but really sexy, full-bodied, broad and flavorful. Loads of black cherry and blackcurrant fruit are present in this lush, heady style of wine that is irresistible and should continue to evolve gracefully for another 12 to 15+ years. These are impressive releases from Roberts + Rogers.
2013 R&R Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 93 Points
This wine is young, still promising, and although approachable now promises to evolve easily for 15 or more years. The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is another exuberant, full-throttle style of Cabernet Sauvignon, showing slightly more reserved and coiled characteristics, the wine is full-bodied, has an opaque purple color, beautiful notes of mulberry, blackcurrants, graphite and spice. It's big (15.4% alcohol), but that's well-concealed beneath the lavish fruit and rather large structure of this full-bodied wine. This is impressive wine that can be approached now, but will be better in 3-5 years of cellaring and keep for 20-25+ years.
